Hardeman County is home to several beautiful scenic lakes and small ponds stocked with bass, bream, and catfish. These lakes and ponds offer fishermen with the proper license the opportunity to fish from a boat or from the shore. Sand Beach Lake – Bolivar, TN
Sand Beach Lake is currently under construction with an anticipated completion date of 2024. Currently, visitors can fish and boat on the lake. Future plans include a zipline, a picnic pavilion with grills, walking trails, an amphitheater, camping sites, a swimming beach, and more. The park is located at 575 E. Market Street.
Pruitt Lake – Bolivar, TN
You can find Frog Town Park located at the intersection of Madison St. and Morgan St. It features several basketball courts for use. Adjacent to the park is Pruitt Lake which is open for fishing.
Big Buck Resort
Big Buck Resort is a privately owned facility offering rental cabins, campsites, tent camping, and is an event venue. Guests are invited to enjoy the two stocked ponds during their stay. The Resort also has hiking trails, ponds, range, volleyball court, horseshoes, and other outdoor fun.
Whiteville Lake – Whiteville, TN
Stocked with largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, redear sunfish, and blue and channel catfish, this 158-acre lake is located just south of Whiteville on U.S. Highway 64. Facilities include a boat ramp, fishing pier, and a picnic area.
Whiteville Lake is on Oak Dain Creek and is used for recreational purposes. It was built in 1943 of earthen construction. The Lake is owned by Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).

Big Hill Pond State Park – Pocahontas, TN
In nearby McNairy County, Big Hill Pond State Park includes 165-acre Travis McNatt Lake which is spring-fed. The lake offers bass, bream, and catfish fishing with a boat ramp that can accommodate up to boats up to 20-feet in length. Old Big Hill Pond is lined with cypress trees, perfect for bank fishing.
Chickasaw State Park – Henderson, TN
The two 54-acres lakes at Chickasaw State Park provide year-round opportunities bass, bream, and catfish fishing. Lake Placid has fishing boats for rent year-round (full-day rentals only) whereas Lake LaJoie is only open for public access when the Group Camp is vacant. Hatchie River National Wildlife Refuge
Located just over the county line in Haywood County, the Hatchie River NWR follows along the scenic Hatchie River, encompassing 11,566 acres. O’Neal Lake and several of the smaller oxbow lakes along the river are open to fishing during specific times of the year.
