There is always something to do in charming downtown Bolivar. On Friday nights from May until October, the streets fill with the sound of live music. Hosted by the Hardeman County Music Commission, Music on the Square offers live entertainment, free of charge, to patrons. On the first Saturday of each month during music season, the Music Commission and Ken Griggs host Open Air on the Square, which is also free to the public. Weather permitting, concerts are held just behind the Hardeman County Court House at the Downtown Bolivar Amphitheater. Featured artists for Music on the Square play musical genres that include country, rockabilly, bluegrass, and Southern rock. Open Air on the Square features artists who play soul, rhythm & blues, rock, jazz and gospel.
The eclectic shops in downtown Bolivar offer a variety of luxury, vintage, consignment, and handcrafted items. Merchants give shoppers warm welcomes, personalized service, and often host special events. Be sure to ask about art classes, gallery exhibits, event venue space, and gallery dinners.
The beloved Luez theater was restored and renovated by the Downtown Bolivar Development Corporation and re-opened its doors on December 14, 2018. The historic Art Deco theater shows first run movies and serves as a venue for live music, meetings, and other events. Shows begin at 7:00 pm Thursday through Saturday with matinees on Saturday at 4:30 pm and on Sunday at 2:00 pm. Doors open one hour prior to showtime.

The Bolivar Farmer’s Market is located downtown at the corner of W. Lafayette and S. Washington. It is open during harvest every Tuesday and Saturday beginning at 7:00 am. Vendors offer a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables and other handcrafted items.
