The Business of the Day for the #ShopHardeman Hashtag and Photo Contest for Wednesday, December 11, is Beehive Beauty Spa in Bolivar.
When you have an appointment or just go by and purchase a product at Beehive Beauty Spa on December 11 and post about it for #ShopHardeman, your post is worth four entries in the #ShopHardeman drawing for a chance to win a Grand Prize worth $500.
Beginning
Beehive Beauty Spa is a brand new business in Downtown Bolivar who just celebrated their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on December 7. The business was founded in July 2019 and had their first day of business on December 2.
“The vision of the Beehive came from my memories of going to the beauty shop with my grandmother when I was a little girl,” said Donna Criswell, owner and operator. “I loved listening to all the ladies share their stories and life happenings and I wanted to be able to create an environment for others to come and make memories with their families.”
Donna lives with her husband Ray on a farm in Whiteville where they keep bees, one of the reasons for the name “Beehive” and the use of a bee in their logo. Another reason for the name Beehive is that the style of the salon is 1950s Hollywood glam with images of James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, and Sophia Loren, some of the ladies wearing the famous beehive hairdo, hanging from the walls.
When asked why she chose Downtown Bolivar for her business, Donna said that as a huge supporter of the shop local movement, she knew it was a no brainer that the business would be located in Hardeman County and Downtown Bolivar.
“My thought is not only should we shop local, but if we have the opportunity, we should invest local as well.”
Products
Beehive Beauty Spa is a full service hair salon and offers manicures, pedicures, facial waxing, paraffin hand treatments, and massage.
You can also purchase hair care products that are 100% vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, and also free of many other harsh chemicals. Their spa body product is formulated for sensitive skin. Their hair care product names include All-Nutrient Organic Hair Care, Crack Hair Fix and Marrakesh for Men and their body spa product is Glory Cloud.
Beehive has three stylists, Sarah Scott, Lauren Wall, and Christy McMahan, with a fourth stylist joining the team soon, a nail tech, Shay Gray, and a massage therapist, Christine Harrison.
Beehive welcomes walk-ins, but you can make an appointment any time day or night at vagaro.com/beehivebeautyspa or by using the Vagaro phone app or from the Book Now button on their Facebook page. You can find their service prices and more information in the Vagaro app when you search Beehive Beauty Spa or on their Facebook page.
Location
Donna’s vision for Beehive was to provide an upscale atmosphere with a down home feel. She wants customers to be wowed when they come in and feel pampered, but she doesn’t want price or stuffiness to keep people away.
“Everyone deserves to be pampered,” said Donna.
In fact, she said the cohesiveness she has been able to achieve between the salon feeling both luxurious and comfortable is her proudest accomplishment in business so far.
“I was able to marry upscale with down home to create the perfect environment where people can feel fancy and comfortable without any sort of pretentiousness all at the same time.”
Beehive Beauty Spa is located at 111 W Market St in Downtown Bolivar. Their business hours are:
- Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
- Tuesday and Thursday, 9 am to 6 pm
- Saturday, 8 am to 3 pm
