The Wall That Heals – Vietnam Veterans Memorial

March 12 @ 12:00 am - March 15 @ 2:00 pm

The week of March 10th, we are having a huge event out of Washington D.C., The Wall That Heals, the only replica wall of The Vietnam Wall in Washington that is sanctioned by The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.  Our Facebook Page is The Wall That Heals Ashland MS.  If you need any other detailed information about The Wall, refer to TheWallThatHeals.com.

On March 10th, the Mobile Education Truck that transports The Wall will be traveling down Highway 15 from Pontotoc to Faulkner, then Highway 370 to Ashland.  It leaves Pontotoc around 3:00 pm and should reach Faulkner approximately 4:10 pm.  This truck will have 100 to 150 veteran motorcyclists escorting the truck.  Anyone that wants to be a part of this can be at Pontotoc Ag Center at 2:30, motorcycles, truck with flags and even vans with Vietnam Veterans together are welcome to travel with this escort. Anyone that wants to see this, just be at Faulkner, Highway 15 and 370 around 4:10 (but I would be there early).

The Wall will open 24 hours a day from March 12 thru 15th at the Benton County Fairgrounds in Ashland MS.  On March 14th, we are having a ceremony there to honor the names on the Wall and any surviving Veterans that would like to attend.  We have 2 guest speakers lined up and a Flyover from Columbus Air Force Base.
This is a free event for all.  Please encourage your schools to set up a time on March 12th or 13th for school tours.
There are four veterans from Hardeman County who will be included on the wall: Silvester Beauregard, Coleman G. Hillman, John W Howell, and Ronnie L McCormick. If any of the families could be located, we would be glad to send them an invitation to this event if we could get names and addresses.
